A LOVE LETTER TO OUR SISTER
Dear Keisha,
You are not our sister because of the letters we wear. You are our sister because you have always stood where Black women have always stood - carrying communities, holding families, and doing the work nobody thought could be done.
But tonight, the history books must also know your name: the first woman ever elected Governor of Georgia. The first Black person ever elected Governor of Georgia. And the first Black woman elected governor in the history of these United States.
The state that produced the civil rights movement - the state where our foremothers marched, organized, and refused to be silenced - will now be led by a daughter of Atlanta whose leadership carries their fight forward.
From the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® to our sister of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated®: we see you, we salute you, and we are so proud to watch you lead.
Congratulations, Governor-elect Lance Bottoms. 🩷♥️
With love, your friend,
Charletta Wilson Jacks, President and CEO, and the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®

HISTORY. MADE.
After nearly 250 years of statehood, Georgia has never - not once - had a woman serve as its Secretary of State. Last night, that changed forever.
On behalf of Charletta Wilson Jacks, President and CEO, and the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, we proudly congratulate Judge Penny Brown Reynolds - the first woman and the first Black woman ever elected to lead Georgia’s elections as Secretary of State.
Consider the moment: a Black woman, a seasoned judge and public servant, elected as the chief elections official in the state that birthed the civil rights movement and carried the fight for voting rights on its back. Our foremothers organized, marched, and demanded a seat at the table - and their sister now oversees the very ballot box they bled to open.
Judge Reynolds, you have broken a barrier two centuries in the making. Your victory tells every girl who will ever cast a ballot in Georgia that the doors of power are hers to walk through - and hers to hold open.
You lead with excellence. You serve with purpose. And you make history simply by being exactly who you are. 🩷💚
Congratulations, Judge Reynolds. Alpha Kappa Alpha is proud to call you sister.

On behalf of Charletta Wilson Jacks, President and CEO, and the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, we proudly celebrate our phenomenal sisters who have been elected and re-elected to serve in leadership across the federal, state, and local levels.
From the halls of Congress to state and local government, these women exemplify the power of service, advocacy, and leadership in action.
In 1908, our founders gathered with a vision of women who would serve, lead, and change the world.
More than a century later, Alpha Kappa Alpha women are still doing exactly that - carrying the torch lit by our foremothers, who organized communities, registered voters, shattered barriers, and blazed the trail into the halls of power long before it was fashionable to do so.
Today, our sisters follow in that proud lineage - and make history of their own.
