Our Permanent Home
The Ivy Center serves as the corporate headquarters for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. The organization first established a national office in Chicago in 1949 and moved through multiple locations as membership and administrative needs grew. In July 1985, the Ivy Center was built as a permanent corporate office and later expanded with a third floor in 1992 to accommodate additional space requirements.
In anticipation of future growth, the sorority undertook a comprehensive renovation of the building, with construction beginning in October 2016 and completing in late 2017. A ribbon-cutting and open house were held on May 4, 2018, unveiling the modernized facility. The sorority remains debt free on the building, which continues to support the administrative and operational needs of AKA.
Corporate Office Staff
Our multimillion dollar Corporate Office in Chicago is staffed by a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to the mission and purpose of the Sorority. Staff members on average have worked for the organization for 10 or more years. The culture is one of teamwork, commitment, and value.
