Shawn E. Simmons

Dr. Simmons has served the sorority with distinction since her initiation into the Kappa Psi Chapter at the University of Oklahoma as a freshman in 1990. She has served at the chapter, regional, and international levels of the sorority. International positions in Alpha Kappa Alpha include chairman of International Impact Days, co-chairman of the International Building and Properties Committee, at-large director of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation® (EAF), the International Leadership Fellows Committee, and the Leadership Development Task Force.

A member of Xi Alpha Omega Chapter in Houston, Texas, Dr. Simmons has held various officer positions, including chapter president. During that time, she led the establishment of the chapter’s 501(c)(3) entity, the Ivy League Education & Charities Foundation. A Life Member of the sorority, Dr. Simmons has served for more than 35 years.

  • Oversees supplier diversity and sustainable procurement initiatives on a global scale and  held numerous managerial leadership roles across Africa, Asia Pacific, Australia, and Europe
