Sheila London received recognition for her continued and exemplary service as a community volunteer during the 2019 Hampton Roads Gazeti Exemplar Awards Banquet. Soror London is a 47 year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ®, Iota Omega Chapter and has served the South Hampton Roads Pan-Hellenic Council (SHARP-C) as a representative for 29 years. She currently serves the council as parliamentarian, chair of the Annual Cookout Committee and co-chair of the Unsung Hero Committee. Her past leadership roles have included a host leadership positions to include president, vice president, financial secretary, and treasurer. London's dedication to serving for the good of the organizations represented by SHARP-C led to her public recognition as a 2019 Hampton Roads Gazeti Exemplar Award Recipient. The Exemplar Award was created by Hampton Roads Gazeti as a way for community service nonprofits to publicly recognize and say “thank you” to volunteers who go the extra distance-individuals who exemplify the true spirit of the organization’s mission. We celebrate alongside London and recognize the impact she continues to make within our community. London is pictured with two of her three sons at the awards banquet at which she was honored.
