West Virginia Undergraduates

Nu Chapter - The members of Nu Chapter and Miss Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kayonjra Guerrant, hosted “Don’t be scared T in Talk” event tonight! Everyone had a great time painting wooden craft ribbons and learning about domestic violence in honor of October being Domestic Violence Month.

Nu Chapter - Traveled to the Charleston Arbors Community Room to host a mini spa day for the residents and caregivers. The members also assisted in making hand scrubs, painting nails, and playing interactive games.

Nu Chapter - Edwina Barnett won First Place in a research poster presentation competition at the Association of 1890 Research Directors' 18th Biennial Research Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia. Her poster is entitled "Optimization of a DNA Extraction Protocol for Herbarium Rubus Tissue." She is pictured here with the president of West Virginia State University, Dr. Jenkins, after receiving her award.

Nu Chapter - Kareé and Edwina volunteering with the Cross Lanes Girl Scout Troop

The lovely ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Nu Chapter hosted the historic statue dedication to Dr. Katherine Goble-Coleman Johnson. Mrs. Johnson is known for her employment at NASA as a mathematician, some of her calculations aiding in the success of the first and second U.S. manned spaceflights, which is portrayed in the movie Hidden Figures. Katherine Johnson is also a former Nu chapter member and West Virginia State attendee. The event took place on Saturday, August 25th, 2018 on the campus of West Virginia State University.
