WHAT IS THE UNDERGRADUATE ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE (UAC)?

Purpose

  • To provide Undergraduates with viable resources to better serve their communities
  • To foster genuine relationships between undergraduates and improve sisterly relations
  • To collaborate with International Committees to promote Undergraduate development

  • To grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment

ENGAGE

How to Engage in Your Chapter

  • Utilize the “Nurturing Our Ivy” handbook as a resource to better foster sisterly relations
  • Focus while you attend workshops
  • The information obtained should be shared with your chapter

How to Engage with Your Graduate Chatper

  • Foster lifelong relationships and gain AKA wisdom from graduate sorors by participating in Mentorship Programs
  • Display a collaborative spirit when working with the Graduate Advisor and Graduate Advisory Council
  • Attend and actively participate in all joint chapter meetings

How to Engage with Other Undergraduate Chapters

  • Connect with other chapters in the region to foster sisterly relations
  • Collaborate with nearby chapters to execute programs of service

Examples of How to Engage

  • In addition to utilizing the LNDS Second Half Playbook, leverage the Best Practices L.Y.E developed by the UAC to plan chapter programs
  • Host at least one sisterly relations day or chapter retreat per semester (i.e. Arts and Crafts night)
  • Stay connected with Regional and International leaders

EMPOWER

How to Empower Your Chapter

  • Review the PowerPoint covering Officer Duties and Responsibilities at your next chapter meeting
  • Review documents provided during MIP as they provide information regarding Chapter, Regional, and International positions
  • Review updates and additions to the Constitution and Bylaws and the Manual of Standard Procedure
  • Keep abreast of official sorority business and information

Examples of How to Empower

  • Learn more about internal undergraduate leadership opportunities to better prepare for leadership positions
  • Encourage sorors to be leaders in their chapter, on campus and in their communities

ELEVATE

How to Elevate within AKA

  • Encourage another soror to make the right choice to elevate herself
  • Familiarize yourself with the opportunities within AKA that go beyond your chapter(Leadership Fellows, International positions, internship opportunities, scholarships, etc.)

How to Elevate Your Collegiate Experience

  • Join organizations or attend events that will promote professional and self growth
  • Research ways to enhance skills for career development
  • Utilize skills and training from chapter experience, Regional Conferences, Leadership Fellows and Leadership Seminar to cultivate professional skills

How to Elevate within Your Community

  • Do not limit programs of service to on campus only, but expand to the surrounding community

  • Create a vision board of the goals to accomplish and establish an action plan to achieve them
  • Leverage resources provided by your campus Career Center
