Service to All Mankind
Chapters throughout Alpha Kappa Alpha's international network are implementing the ESP Platforms with activities dedicated to: improving the living standards within the Black community through economic education; creating exposure and opportunities for the women entrepreneur; adopting and/or assisting Black families, with an emphasis on the Black male; and improving the mental and physical health of local communities.
Just a few highlights of the organization's program implementation on a national level include:
- Partnering with State Farm Insurance Company and Dr. Ian Smith in the 50 Million Pound Challenge that encourages people to save lives by getting fit and losing weight. The Sorority is a Challenge Champion in this historic campaign.
- Launching the Undergraduate Signature Program: Economic Educational Advancement through Technology on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC; and
- Expanding the Points of Light Foundation First Responders Disaster Training Grant Program for Young Disadvantaged Black Males through partnerships with local fire departments, homeland security agencies, the American Red Cross and other such agencies.
And, meaningful programs continue to be developed at local levels as well. Click on any of the links below (or use the site's main navigation bar) to see how various chapters are succeeding in implementing the organization's Extraordinary Service Program.
