Toni S. Kendrick

Great Lakes Regional Director

Toni S. Kendrick was elected to serve as the 2014-2016 Great Lakes Regional Director of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in April 2014 at the 83rd Great Lakes Regional Conference. She is the 28th Alpha Kappa Alpha woman to serve in this position.

Kendrick, a retired educator and community leader, has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for 39 years.

She is a Life member of the Sorority and an active member of Alpha Alpha Omega Chapter where she served two terms as President.

Kendrick was initiated into Alpha Sigma Chapter, the Pittsburgh City Chapter, and was a chartering member of Kappa Beta Chapter at the California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA.

She has held a variety of leadership roles in the Great Lakes Region. She has served as Great Lakes Cluster Coordinator and Northern Ohio/Western Pennsylvania Cluster Coordinator. She also served as the Great Lakes Representative to the International Connections Committee.

A graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood Education. She also holds a Master’s in Education from the University of Pittsburgh.

She spent 36 years in the Pittsburgh Public Schools as a teacher, counselor, conflict mediator, assistant principal and principal.

She is a member of New Destiny C.M.E Church and a member of the NAACP.

Kendrick has received numerous awards in recognition of her community service, including the Pittsburgh Courier’s 50 Women of Excellence Award and The Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. 2014 Professional Woman of the year.

She is the proud mother of Alpha Kappa Alpha member, Tamarae Kendrick-Harris.
